Leading paint manufacturer, Johnstone’s, has launched its new specifier website which includes a new improved interactive specification facility – ‘Paint Specifier’ dedicated to meeting the needs of the professional specifier.

The specifier area, which is accessed though www.johnstones-paints.co.uk, provides tailored information for specifiers undertaking a range of decorating projects. The interactive “Paint Specifier” facility is designed to help specifiers at all levels choose the most suitable coatings for their job. The system itself operates in several stages.

First, details of the project being undertaken including the type of building and its location are entered. The project is then broken down into specific areas to be decorated, such as kitchen, bedrooms, bathrooms etc., before each area is then broken down further into types of surface, i.e. walls, ceilings, woodwork etc.

A series of questions then determine the surface materials, the current condition of the surface, and what finish is required. A list of appropriate Johnstone’s products is then presented from which the customer can select.

Once these choices have been made, a comprehensive specification document is produced detailing the Johnstone’s products selected for each surface area. Technical datasheets and specification sheets which provide essential information on recommended preparation and application methods, are also included. The specification document can be printed, e-mailed, or saved to a computer.

When the process is complete, all project details are saved on to a dedicated customer Paint Specifier account which is available as an on-going reference. Details held on account can be amended as and when the needs of the project develop and further information may be required.
