Children from a school in Sutton Coldfield are now on the road to a career in the automotive industry thanks to time spent at LDV’s Partnership Centre.

Hollyfield Primary is the latest school to visit the light commercial vehicle specialist as part of its dedicated educational programme. In the last three months alone, LDV has put over 700 children through its Partnership Centre initiative.

As part of their day at LDV, girls and boys from Hollyfield Primary undertook a site tour to see how vans are made and then took part in two activities in the classroom looking specifically at robotics and control technology. Each of the programmes is designed to strengthen children’s maths and IT skills.

Full time Partnership Centre programme leader, John Woodhead, said the scheme was going from strength to strength. “Since our launch in 2002, we consistently see over 2,000 children every year. Schools from across the Midlands including the Black Country, Birmingham and Coventry make use of our centre, which is designed to support the current curriculum.”
