LDV Group Limited has announced that one of its most senior sales people is to move to the role of export director in order to spearhead the company’s drive into continental Europe.
Robert Drewery (43) joined LDV in 2005 as sales operations director, responsible for the delivery of LDV’s UK sales budget. He was also with LDV from 1994 to 1998 in the position of business planning manager, responsible for the development of the company’s long-term plan. Further experience includes a role as international marketing director with Club Car Inc., where he was responsible for strategic and tactical product and marketing initiatives in Europe and Asia Pacific.
Reporting to Tony Lewis, LDV’s sales and marketing director, Robert’s remit will be to fully exploit the potential of MAXUS in continental Europe. He said: “The first task is to rapidly grow a strong export team, with dedicated sales professionals in key regions. We have just appointed a commercial sales manager for the Benelux region are now actively recruiting for further people in Spain, France and Germany.
“Our objective is to establish 75 European dealers in 2007/08. This builds on our existing foothold in France and Scandinavia. In the UK, we are introducing many new products into the market this year, and our role will be to deliver these to European markets.”
Tony Lewis believes that the time is right for LDV to embark on its major export drive. “A solid export strategy has always been part of our long-term business plan. Now, with the support of GAZ International, this plan can be launched. There’s lots to do, but with a strong team, we are determined to succeed.”
