Two Bristol youngsters are celebrating a dream come true after they were announced winners of a national competition to take part in a half time penalty shoot out at the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy Final on April 1, 2007.
Andrew Wright (11) and James Panes (11) will kick penalties against Doncaster Rovers’ mascot Donny Dog at the match which sees Bristol Rovers take on Doncaster Rovers in the national final.
Speaking of his excitement, Andrew from Kingswood in Bristol said he couldn’t believe his luck when his mother told him about the phone call. He said: “When my Mom told me I had won I couldn’t stop running around, I’m so excited.”
James of Wiltshire is just as excited. He said: “I can’t wait to get down on to the pitch in front of thousands of fans to kick the penalties.”
In preparation for the big penalty shoot out, Andrew and James will meet two Bristol Rovers players, along with the club mascot Captain Gas, on March 22nd 2007 at the Johnstone’s Leyland Decorating Centre in Bristol St Philips at 4pm.
Gina Laycock, Decorating Centre Marketing Manager for Johnstone's, said: “We had such an overwhelming response to this competition, it has been fantastic. I hope that Andrew and James enjoy their day in Cardiff and they show Donny Dog what they are made of.”
The proud winners will also receive a football goodie bag that includes one child and two adult tickets to the Final, a personalised Bristol Rovers football kit, a signed club football and a commemorative trophy as a memento from the day.
Fans who come along to the Decorating Centre on the afternoon can also have their photo taken raising the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy. As an added bonus lucky fans could also pick up one of a limited number of car stickers uniquely made for the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy final by the sponsor.
