With 30 million vehicles expected to be on the roads this bank holiday, automotive experts at HiQ Exeter are advising drivers to check their tyres so that a sudden change in the weather doesn't catch them out.
"Dry spells such as we have just experienced can result in roads becoming coated with a mixture of oil, rubber, diesel and dirt and if, as the forecasts suggest, it does rain, these layers mix with the water to form a lethal mixture which can make surfaces extremely hazardous - particularly in those first few minutes of a downpour," comments Nikki McCluney, HiQ marketing manager.
