In 2006 Bentley brought the same passion it injects into its hand-built cars into the game of golf with the launch of the Bentley Golf Classic.
The company has now unveiled the plans for its 2007 event, which promises to be bigger and better than ever offering customers the chance to compete for a place at the prestigious UK Final and an International Final to be held in the States.
Teeing off on 5 May in Ireland at the K-Club, home of the most recent Ryder Cup, the first event will be swiftly followed by 29 other competitions up and down the country to form the Bentley Golf Classic 2007 programme.
Just as in 2006, The Bentley Golf Classic 2007 will comprise a series of dealer and club sponsored events, but new for this year's competition are four regional qualifier competitions, meaning over 1,000 golfers will have the chance to participate in the prestigious tournament.
The initial stages of the Bentley Golf Classic programme will be followed by a national competition in September and will culminate in a breathtaking world final in the USA.
Each of the competitors will also be given the chance to test-drive some of the finest cars available today including the fastest four-door production car, the Bentley Continental Flying Spur. The Continental GTC, the latest addition to the Bentley range, will also be on show for participants to try out. Both models are powered by advanced W12 6.0 litre engines, producing an impressive 552bhp.
Events Manager, Peter Grant believes that even from the very early heats, the tournament bears all the marks of a truly world-class event and is an opportunity many golfers cannot fail to be excited by. He says: "Feedback from customers in 2006 was extremely positive and in just 12 months we have seen interest in the tournament soar. Although the tournament is primarily for customers, we have provision for a number of places at the regional qualifier events for prospective customers which are already over-subscribed, a genuine testament to last year's event.
"We're now working hard to make our 2007 events even stronger. We have put in place a golf tournament that delivers excitement, luxury and passion, kicking off with our 22-strong UK dealer network holding their own golf days for customers.
"Held at prestigious golf clubs across the UK, the competitions will be played on some of the best courses in the country including The Belfry, The London Club, Mere Golf & Country Club and Stoke Park and we are delighted to have secured Bovey Castle as the venue for our esteemed UK Final."
The top two players from each dealer event will go through to The Bentley Golf Classic UK Final, which will be held over two days for the winning golfers and their invited guest. Bovey Castle with its exciting, challenging Championship course, is set within 368 square miles of the Dartmoor National Park in Devon. The estate offers a private and tranquil haven, complemented by style, quality and relaxing ambience.
According to Peter, the 2006 final proved an auspicious occasion for all the regional finalists who took part and this year the final will be equally as exciting. "We aim to give our guests a 'money can't buy' experience, all undertaken in Bentley's unique style. Our regional winners will all be invited to bring a guest to Bovey Castle for the weekend event, which begins with a practice round before the competition gets underway for real."
The four top scorers from the Bovey Castle final will go on to compete in The Bentley Continental Cup, where they will compete with the winners of Bentley's European golf tournaments against winners from the USA.
Peter concludes: "The Bentley Continental Cup is destined to be one of the very best corporate golfing events in the world. Players from the UK will find themselves in one of the finest golfing resorts in the world, mixing with golfers from across Europe and the USA that share their passion for the game and the finest things in life. Every effort is being made to make this transatlantic contest a true talking point in the golfing calendar."
